誰かがわざとらしく、真剣さが感じられない笑顔を見せること。多くの場合、人に好かれようとしたり、媚びるような場面で使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

本当に嬉しい時の笑顔には使われません。「a simpering waiter」のように否定的で不自然な態度を表します。
