Definition

시프터는 자동차, 자전거, 오토바이 등에서 기어를 변속하는 장치입니다. 언어학에서는 의미가 상황에 따라 바뀌는 단어를 가리키기도 합니다.

일상에서는 기계적 의미, 즉 자동차나 자전거의 '기어 변속기'로 가장 많이 사용됨. 'gear shifter'와 함께 쓰이면 더 명확함. 언어학 용어로는 거의 사용하지 않음.
