A chalota é um vegetal pequeno e de sabor suave, da mesma família da cebola e do alho. Usada para dar um sabor delicado à comida.

"Chalotas" são mais suaves e doces que a cebola comum. Muito usadas na culinária francesa e gourmet. Não confunda com "cebolinha" (green onion), pois são diferentes.
