스며들다새어 나오다

Definition

액체, 기체 혹은 냄새나 빛 등이 틈이나 미세한 구멍을 통해 천천히 흘러나오거나 들어오는 것.

‘스며들다’는 주로 물, 기름, 피처럼 작은 양이 천천히 새어나올 때 쓴다. 냄새, 빛, 소식 등에도 비유적으로 쓸 수 있다. 빠르고 대량의 흐름에는 사용하지 않는다.

Water seeped through the cracks in the wall.

물은 벽의 균열 사이로 **스며들었다**.

Oil seeped from the engine onto the floor.

엔진에서 기름이 바닥으로 **스며나왔다**.

Blood seeped through the bandage.

피가 붕대를 통해 **스며나왔다**.
