Definition

高温で短時間焼いて表面に焼き色を付けた状態を指します。また、強い熱で焦げたり、感情が深く残る状態も表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に料理で使い、『seared steak』のように外はカリッと中はジューシーな状態を指します。感情や記憶にも使え、『seared into memory』は強烈な印象が残るという意味。完全に焦げた状態とは異なります。
