目的の物を見つけるために物をかき回して探すこと。たいてい急いでいたり、乱雑に探すときに使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「ごそごそ」や「あさる」は、早くごちゃごちゃ探す時によく使います。「search」より乱雑またはカジュアルな感じがあります。「rummaged through～」の形でよく出ます。
