物が回転しながら表面から下や外へ落ちることを表します。たいていはテーブルやベッドなどから物が転がって落ちる時に使います。

日常会話でよく使われ、主に物の動きに使われます。人に対して使う場合は冗談っぽい表現になります。'roll off the tongue' とは意味が異なります。
