"ring true" in Korean

진실처럼 들리다믿음이 가다

어떤 이야기가 들을 때나 읽을 때 진짜 같거나 믿을 만하다고 느껴질 때 사용한다.

주로 비공식적인 상황에서 이야기, 변명, 설명 등이 신빙성 있어 보일 때 쓴다. 'That doesn't ring true'는 '믿음이 가지 않는다'는 의미. 꼭 사실임을 뜻하지 않고, 그렇게 느껴진다는 뉘앙스다.

His explanation didn't ring true to me.

그의 설명은 나에게 **진실처럼 들리지 않았다**.

Sometimes a story just doesn't ring true.
