後衛

Definition

後衛は、軍隊の後ろで背後からの攻撃を防ぐ兵士たちのことです。また、多くの人が諦めた後でも変化に抵抗する人々や努力を指すこともあります。

主に軍事用語ですが、比喩的に変化に抵抗する人や行動（'rearguard action'）にも使われます。正式または歴史・政治の場面で使われることが多いです。

The rearguard protected the army as it retreated.

**後衛**は軍の撤退を守った。
