Definition

物資が不足しているときに、決まった量ずつ人々に配ること。主に食料や物資を分ける場面で使われる。

資源が乏しいときに使う表現で、『ration out food』などとよく使う。ややフォーマルな印象があり、日常会話ではあまり使われない。

During the drought, the government decided to ration out water to each household.
