Normalmente se refere a torres de eletricidade ('electricity pylon') ou grandes marcadores em aeroportos e estradas. Não é usado para postes pequenos. Em inglês americano, também pode significar cone de trânsito laranja, mas no britânico refere-se a estruturas grandes.
