Definition
Descomponer algo en un polvo fino o en pedazos muy pequeños, normalmente aplastando, moliendo o machacando. También puede significar derrotar o destruir completamente en sentido figurado.

Se usa literalmente para moler, triturar o machacar hasta hacer polvo (piedras, granos, etc.), y figuradamente para derrotar rotundamente ('pulverizing the competition'). Es más formal o técnico, no muy común en lenguaje diario.
