動いているときなどに急に、または予期せず止まること。乗り物や人に使うほか、急に話を終えるときにも使います。

物語や説明文でよく使われます。人や車が急停止する場合や、突然何かをやめる時にも使われます。技術的な表現ではありません。多くは理由や説明が続きます。
