Definition

حافة الجرف هي جرف شديد الانحدار أو رأس عالي وخطير. يمكن استخدامه مجازيًا لوصف موقف شديد الخطورة أو على وشك الوقوع في كارثة.

مصطلح رسمي أو أدبي؛ يُستخدم في الكتابة عن الطبيعة أو لوصف المواقف الحرجة ('على حافة الجرف' مجازًا). لا يُستخدم للمرتفعات الصغيرة.

He stood at the edge of the precipice and looked down.
