グループの先頭に立って導く人、または特定の業務の主な責任者となる人を指します。元は軍事用語ですが、ビジネスなどでも使われます。

ビジネスや日常生活でも幅広く使われます。「担当者」や「リーダー」に近い意味です。性別に依存しない言葉を使いたい場合は「point person」や「リーダー」も可。
