何かの中や容器の中に、通常は隙間や開口部から注意深くのぞき込むこと。

見えにくい場所に身を乗り出して覗くときに使います。「window」「box」「room」などとよく一緒に使われます。単なる「見る」よりも興味や努力が伴う表現です。
