Definition
「棺の覆い布」は葬式で棺にかける布のこと、または場の雰囲気を重くするものや、だんだん退屈になることも表します。

普段の会話ではあまり使われず、文学的またはフォーマルな表現です。比喩的に「a pall over the room」は重苦しい雰囲気を指します。動詞 'to pall' は飽きる、退屈になるという意味です。「pale（色が薄い）」と間違えないように。
