誰かや何かに公式または一般的に特定の名前や肩書きを与える、またはそう呼ぶこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマル・インフォーマル両方で使えます。役職や受賞などでよく使われます。「named as」の「as」は場合によって省略できますが、子供やペットの名付けには使いません。
