体や物の一部を切り取ったり損傷させて、もとの形を大きく損なわせること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

非常に強い語で、暴力や犯罪、深刻な破壊などの文脈で使われることが多い。「死体を損傷する」「芸術品を切断する」など。軽い損傷には使わない。比喩的にも使われることがある（例:「真実をねじ曲げる」）。
