누군가를 외딴 곳이나 고립된 장소에 남겨 두어 구조의 희망이 없게 만드는 것. 역사적으로는 섬에 버려진 경우를 의미하기도 함.
Usage Notes (Korean)
문어체나 이야기에서 주로 사용하며, 일상에서는 드물다. 'marooned on an island', 'marooned by the flood' 등과 같이 많이 쓰임. 색깔 'maroon'과 혼동 주의.
