"luffing" in Japanese
Definition
ヨットでは、帆の前縁を風上に向けて帆がはためく状態にすること。クレーンの場合は、ブームの角度を上下に調整することを指す。

専門用語で、主にヨットやクレーン操作で使う。日常会話ではほとんど使われない。『luffing the sails』は意図的かミスによって行うことがある。
