Definition

口や喉が渇いている時、空腹な時、または何かを楽しみにしている時に、舌で唇をなめること。ワクワクや期待を表す場合もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

直訳と比喩の両方で使われる。「lick your lips」は食べ物を楽しみにする時や、何かワクワクすることを待つ時によく使う。フォーマルな場面ではあまり用いない。
