特定の分野で専門家やプロではない一般の人を指します。特別な知識を持たない普通の人です。

'素人'や'一般人'はフォーマル・セミフォーマルな場面で使うことが多いです。'non-expert'や'amateur'と同義。'一般の人向けに説明する'などで使われます。性別に関係ありません。
