Definition

緯度は地球上の赤道からの位置を示すための想像上の水平の線で、度で表されます。比喩的に、行動の自由や幅を意味することもあります。

主に地理学で使われます（例：'高緯度'＝極地付近、'低緯度'＝赤道付近）。比喩で使う場合、自由や裁量の意味になります。'経度'（longitude）とは違うので注意。
