「killed outright」とは、その場ですぐに死亡した、という意味です。後から傷が悪化したのではなく、即座に命を失ったことを指します。

主にニュースや公式な報告で使われる表現です。事故や事件、爆発などで即死した場合に用いられます。ゆっくり死に至る場合や深刻なケガのみの場合には使いません。
