Se algo está 'à vista', você pode vê-lo ou está quase a acontecer. Utiliza-se para objetos físicos ou eventos próximos ou visíveis.

'In sight' costuma usar-se quando algo pode ser visto fisicamente ou está quase a acontecer ('a meta está à vista'). Não se aplica a coisas imaginárias ou invisíveis.
