Definition

কোনো শব্দ বা শব্দগুচ্ছের মাঝে বা শেষে হাইফেন (-) চিহ্ন ব্যবহার করা, সাধারণত শব্দকে যুক্ত বা ভাগ করার জন্য।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

শিক্ষা বা অফিসিয়াল লেখায় বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন 'well-known', 'mother-in-law'-এর মতো যৌগিক শব্দে, লাইন শেষ হলে বা লেখার স্পষ্টতার জন্য এটি ব্যবহার করা হয়। 'ড্যাশ' (—) চিহ্নের সাথে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
