Um 'holdout' é uma pessoa ou grupo que se recusa a ceder, concordar ou participar, mesmo quando a maioria já aceitou. Também pode referir-se a algo que permanece quando quase tudo o resto já não existe.

'Holdout' é usado muitas vezes em negócios, desporto ou negociações para quem demora a aceitar. Neutro ou ligeiramente negativo. Expressões: 'último holdout', 'um holdout teimoso'. Não se usa para situações físicas, apenas para resistência ou recusa.
