Passado de 'hem'. Geralmente significa costurar a borda dobrada de um tecido para não desfiar. Também pode significar rodeado ou confinado por todos os lados.

Formal a neutro. Frequentemente usado em costura ('hemmed a shirt'), mas também figurativamente ('hemmed in by regras'). Não confundir com 'hymned'. Usado como adjetivo ou particípio.
