Definition

何かを何度も切り続けること。転じて、難しい仕事や課題に根気強く取り組み続けることにも使われる。

日常的でカジュアルな表現。'at'をつけることで「何かに時間や労力をかけて取り組む」という意味になる。'hack into'（ハッキングする）とは違うので注意。

He hacked away at the thick branches with his axe.
