格子耳障りな（音）

Definition

格子とは、金属や木でできた隙間のある構造で、カバーや仕切りによく使われます。また、耳障りで不快な音や声を指すこともあります。

名詞の“格子”は排水口や窓の金属カバーとしてよく使います。形容詞の“耳障りな”は“grating noise”や“grating voice”のような不快な音によく用いられます。“great”（すごい）とは違うので注意。

The cat walked carefully over the grating on the street.
