他人にアピールしたり注目を集めるために、大げさに振る舞ったり発言したりすること。多くの場合、公の場で使われます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に政治家や有名人への批判に使われます。「engage in」や「accuse of」と組み合わせて使う表現もよくあります。誠実さではなく自己アピールや偽善的な意味合いが強いです。
