Definition

話をするときに意味や感情を伝えるために手や腕を大きく動かすこと。

日常会話よりもフォーマルな文脈や演説のときによく使われます。「gesticulate wildly」や「gesticulate toward」などの表現で使います。「gesture」とは異なり、名詞ではありません。

When he explains something, he always gesticulates with his hands.

彼は何かを説明するとき、いつも手で**身振りをします**。
