車やバイクでギアを切り替えるためのレバーやノブのことです。特にマニュアル車によく使われます。

'gearshift'はアメリカ英語でよく使われます。イギリス英語では『gear stick』や『gear lever』といいます。手動車（マニュアル）の用語ですが、オートマ車にも使う場合があります。
