Fotoğrafçılık ve sanatta sıkça kullanılır; 'background'un zıttıdır. Soyut anlamda da önemli ya da öne çıkan konular için kullanılır. 'bring to the foreground' deyimi konuyu daha çok ön plana çıkarmak anlamındadır.
