Definition

写真や絵で見る人に最も近い部分。また、最も目立つ・重要な事柄を指すこともある。

写真・美術でよく使われ、「background（背景）」の反対。比喩的にも「重要なもの」の意味で使われ、『bring to the foreground』は「目立たせる」という意味。動詞としては使わない。

There is a tree in the foreground of the picture.
