Definition

誰かにプレッシャーをかけて、準備ができていなくても決断や行動を取らせること。

ビジネスや交渉の場でよく使われ、カジュアルな会話ではあまり使われません。「force their hand」といった形でも使います。

They tried to force my hand by giving me a deadline.

彼らは締め切りを設けて私に**決断を迫った**。

Raising prices will force their hand to respond.
