流氷

Definition

主に極地で見られる、大きくて平らな浮かぶ氷の塊のこと。氷床から割れて水面に浮かんでいる。

主に学術・自然に関する文脈で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「流氷」や「氷の塊」と組みあわせて使うことが多いです。

The polar bears walk on the floes to hunt for food.

ホッキョクグマは**流氷**の上を歩いて狩りをします。
