특정한 목적을 위해 시간, 돈, 에너지 같은 자원을 사용하는 것.

'expend'는 공식적이고 주로 돈, 노력, 자원 등에 사용됨. 'on', 'in'과 함께 쓰임. 'expand'(확장하다)와 혼동하지 말 것.

We expended a lot of time preparing for the meeting.
