塞栓とは、血液のかたまりや空気の泡などが血管内を移動し、血管をふさいでしまうものです。

医学用語です。「塞栓」は「血栓（けっせん）」と混同しやすいですが、「血栓」はその場にとどまります。「肺塞栓」「脂肪塞栓」などと組み合わせて使われます。
