これは、将来やしばらく経った後に何かが起こることを意味するカジュアルな表現です。よく未来の計画や予想について話すときに使います。

カジュアルな会話や文章でよく使われます。「数年後」や「いずれ」と同じような意味です。物理的な位置を指すのではありません。

We will finish the project down the line.

私たちは将来そのプロジェクトを終わらせます。

Maybe you will change your mind down the line.
