Definition

どちらを選ぶか迷ったり、不安や緊張でなかなか決断できない状態を表します。

'迷う'や'ためらう'は比較的フォーマルにも使えます。「dither over/about」は「～について迷う」という意味。決断が遅いことをやや批判的に表現する時に使います。

Don't dither when it's time to decide.

決めるときに**迷わない**で。

He always dithers over what to wear.

彼は何を着るかいつも**迷っている**。

She dithered for minutes before answering.

彼女は答える前に何分か**ためらっていた**。
