在正式和非正式语境中均可使用。常见搭配如 'directs traffic'（指挥交通）、'directs a movie'（导演电影）、'directs a team'（领导一个团队）。既可表示管理指挥，也可指创意领导。不等同于形容词 'direct'（直接的）。
