細菌などの自然な作用で、動植物や食べ物などの有機物が分解・腐敗して元の形を失った状態を表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に動植物や食べ物が自然に腐る場合に使われます。「decomposed data」など比喩的に使う場合もありますが、機械的な壊れ方には使いません。
