• 怯えて縮こまる

Definition

強い恐怖で体を小さくして縮こまること。人や動物が怯えて物陰などに隠れる時に使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に人や動物が「目に見えて怯えている」場面で使います。「was cowering」など受動的な形でよく用いられます。単なる恥ずかしがりには使いません。

Examples

The dog was cowering under the table during the storm.

嵐の間、犬はテーブルの下で**怯えて縮こまっていた**。

She was cowering in fear when she saw the snake.

彼女はヘビを見て恐怖で**縮こまっていた**。
