窓やドアの前に掛けて、光を遮ったり、プライバシーを守ったり、部屋を飾ったりする布や素材のこと。劇場の舞台幕も指す。

「カーテン」は家庭や劇場などで窓や舞台に使います。「draw the curtains」は「カーテンを開ける・閉める」。「ブラインド」は別の種類の窓用カバーなので混同しないように。
