把某人或某物关在一个小的封闭空间里，使其无法自由活动。

通常是非正式用法，多用于人或动物。常与被动语态搭配（be cooped up）。多形容长时间被困在室内（如因生病、恶劣天气等）。不要与英语'coop'（鸡舍）混淆。'Coop up'不是用来表示永久监禁。
