남들과 함께 나쁜 일이나 불법적인 일을 몰래 계획하다. 때로는 특정한 결과를 위해 비밀스럽게 협력한다는 뜻도 있다.

‘Conspire’는 공식적이고 부정적 의미로, 비밀스럽고 나쁜 일을 뜻할 때 쓴다. ‘conspire against’(누구를 해치려고 공모하다)와 자주 함께 쓰임.

The two men conspired to steal the money.
