物やデータの体積やサイズを小さくすること。医療では体に冷たいタオルなどを当てる意味もある。

'圧縮する'はデータや物体などのサイズを小さくする時に使います。医療の「冷たい圧迫」の場合は名詞の『圧迫』や『湿布』が用いられます。他の単語（抑圧、抑制）と混同しないよう注意。
