用平坦的石头铺路，或把石头堆在一起修理或制造粗糙的表面。口语中也指快速或粗略地修补或制作某物。

正式指街道铺石时用；非正式“cobble together”表示匆忙或临时拼凑。不要混淆 'cobblestone'（鹅卵石本身）。现代英语中使用较少，多见于历史或创造性语境。
